How do I make a laptop battery work again?

I picked up an old laptop, but the battery is completely dead and won’t hold a charge. And a new battery for it is $110! How do I “revive” it? Thanks.

If my laptop battery dies for good, can I still have my laptop work while plugged into the wall?

It’s a Toshiba Satellite laptop, made this year, Windows vista, yadda yadda. Look my point is, if my battery gets wasted to a point where it won’t charge anymore, will my computer still work plugged into the wall? I can’t afford to get another battery. I can’t afford a pack of cigarettes.

Could a Dell inspiron 1525 9-cell Lithium Ion battery work for a Dell inspiron 1545 laptop?

My friend owns a Dell inspiron 1525 laptop that has a 9-cell Lithium Ion battery and he replaced his laptop so he offered to give me his battery and my laptop is Dell inspiron 1545 and came with a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery so could the 1525’s battery work with my 1545?
